Matrix items on the receipt

I have installed a POS 2009 soultion for a furniture store, we are using the matrix feature to create ranges (i.e. sofa, left hand facing in red leather).  On the receipt, the only information shown is the item number, no mention of the corner configuration or the finish material.

Can anyone suggest a simple way of adding matrix (attribute) details to a receipt?

    Hello Peter,

    Thank you for your questions.

If you set the matrix item's style format correctly, the styles will appear in the matrix item's description.

The description will show up on the receipt: (Mine was a little too long to display the entire description.)

Otherwise, you could enter this information as subdescriptions and use the following reciept format:

Receipt - 40 Column with Sub Description 1 and Sub Description 2
This receipt displays the item sub description 1 and sub description 2.

I am being asked for a login to download the template, but it is not accepting my email address.  Would it be possible to email the zip file to me?

Re: Matrix items on the receipt

    Hi Trent,

Thanks for your help so far, I am getting there :-)

The problem that I have is that the item being created via the matrix is showing as a code line on the receipt, and I need a description.  For example, they have a corner sofa called a Palermo, it can be ordered in Left or Right Hand Facing, and comes in 52 different colours.  So a manual order without POS2009 would be created as 'Palermo Corner Sofa, Right Hand Faxing in BT-10 Black Leather Cat 33'.

I have created a matrix for Corner Configuration, containing just two values RHF and LHF, and a Sofa Finish matrix with the 52 available finishes in.  However, because the matrix item description is limited to 8 characters I can only put a colour code in that field, not a colour description, and the colour code means nothing to the client.

I am looking for a way to create a full page report that shows: -

Item Description - Matrix Attribute 1 Description -  Matrix Attribute 2 Description - Matrix Attribute 3 Description

The template you supplied does not seem to show the descriptions in POS 2009, was it written for RMS?

Re: Matrix items on the receipt

    Hello Peter,

    Thank you for the update.

Matrix attributes are not included in the Receipt template as variables. Sub Descriptions are. The receipt template posted above displays Sub Descriptions.

For more information about customizing receipts, please see the customization guide:

Thank you for all your help so far.

The sub description template works well, but, as the items are being created by matrix, so the subdescription fields are normaly empty.

I like the idea of using these fields to hold the item specific data, could you suggest a non manual method of synchronising them (there are litteraly thousands of items) - maybe a trigger or stored procedure on the database?

Re: Matrix items on the receipt

    Hello Peter,

    Thank you for the update.

Depending on how you want to set the Sub Descriptions, you may be able to write some SQL Queries to assign them.

This might be a good question to ask your partner.
