Dear D365 Forum members,

There are differences between TB in General Ledger (Account Balance)  and Posted transactions in the project, and after some investigation,
I noticed that the variance exactly came from released retention; it affected the posted transactions !

    Hi Mohammad,

Can you please provide screenshots as I don't know much details here. E.g. is the PO related to a project or not? What exact vouchers are created upon product receipt and when posting the invoice? When and where do you release the retention and on what form do you see a change on a posted transaction? Please provide as much details and screenshots.

    Hi @André Arnaud de Calavon

    Here's a step-by-step:

    1. Create an Invoice from PO: Start by creating an invoice for $100 with a retention amount of $5. This means the posted transaction will show $100 initially.

    2. Post the Invoice: Post the invoice to the ledger. At this point, the trial balance (TB) will reflect the $100 as part of the project's cost.

    3. Release the Retention: When you release the retention amount of $5, it will create a new transaction that affects the posted transaction as a new line = $5 !

      Kind Regards.

    Hi Mohammad,

You shared a screenshot, but this does not explain what difference you see and some details about the released retention. What steps should someone do to get the same difference?

    Hi Mohammad,

Can you provide screenshots, please? I'm currently not sure if I understand your question. What do you mean by "posted transaction"? Is this a ledger transaction, vendor transaction, customer transaction, project transaction, or some other transaction?

    Hi André

    TB = trial balance,

    for example ,
    • if we make an invoice with 100 $ with 5 $ a retention amount , you will have 100 $ on the posted transaction, and then you trying to release the retained amount 5$, it will also effect on the posted transaction.
So my question now is why the released retention affects the posted transaction, because we consider the posted transaction essential to the project's cost report.

or just i should to filter the released transaction from the report to get the cost report ?

    Thanks in advance !

    Hi Mohammad,

Can you explain the abbreviation "TP".? Can you share an example of your observation by sharing some screenshots?
