Multiple Bins and site Allocations in GP2010

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello fellow GP strugglers,

A question for you, we never have been able to get out site qtys & allcoations to be matched by our Bin Qtys and alocations. No mater the number of scripts we kludge together and run, the bin quanties and allocations show up wrong quite frequently and I am forced to run SQL statements to force them to match the site qty's/alloc.

Now, I have been told that Microsoft is "fixing" this bug in 2013, but I just wonder how we could be the only company experiencing this, and if not, what have others done to mitigate it.

We have 11 warehouses in the US and Canada all with multiple bins and part# in the hundreds of thousands, and I spend HOURS each day just clearing unknown allocations from parts to that our shippers can fulfil orders and pick stock to be shipped on in-transit xfers... times that by 10 physical warehouses and bam, you understand my frustration... Pasted below is an example of what I spend most of each day fixing manually with SQL scripts?

We use PSTL inventory reconcile at a client site, which is a lot faster, along with a login macro setup in Windows Task Scheduler to run automatically 3 times a week.  The client has over 56,000 inventory items associated with multiple Warehouse IDs.

    Hi Sheldon,

I'm certain your vendor understands your database volumn much better than I do.  I would execute the process in a test enviroment.

we were told by our vendor that a reconcile would take over 40 hours to run? We are thinking Thanksgiving Holiday 4 day weekend, to kick it off... Is there anyway to guesstimate how long it will run, can we try test run by warehouse? The tool looks like it's an all or nothing kind of thing?

I've experienced a similar problem on GP2010(sp1)  Inventory reconcile resolved the allocations.  No SQL script was needed.
