Our organization uses MS Forecaster for budgeting, from which all budget data flows into GP. We are struggling to find a way to limit the number of decimal places that can be entered in a cell in Forecaster, so that we can avoid floating decimals. Said differently, we're hoping to force rounding in all cells. Currently, no matter what settings we establish (decimals, number formats, etc.), those settings only control the display but not what can actually be entered in the cell, and therefore the cells allow unlimited decimals.
For instance the Human Resources module is triggering the entry of floating decimal values into each month, which are then being sent to GP and causing summation errors on our reports. For a $100k salary, it's storing $8,333.333333 in each month. When we run a report, we see $83,333.33 in each month which adds to $99,999.96, but the report shows $100,000.00 because the floating decimals are coming through.
We're hoping there's a way to force Forecaster to round the monthly salary amount to $8,333.33 and plug the rounding difference into the last month so it's $8,333.37. This is the same logic as what exists on the main input tab - when you enter an annual total, it automatically spreads properly rounded values into each month so that no figure extends beyond the specified decimal settings. However, when the numbers come from a sub-area such as Human Resources, they are not rounded.
Any ideas? Thanks!
