Is there a way to add subgrid columns to a view from another entity (N:1 relationship)?

Posted on by 459

Hi,

I have N:1 relationship between Organazation and Brand names (one organization can have many brand names).

In the organization form, i have a subgrid to add brand names.

Requirement is:

User needs to be able to search and sort on individual Brand names from Active organizations view?

Since the Brand name comes from a child entity (Brand name entity), i won't be able to see in the organization entity to add a column to a view.

How i can add brand names to the organization view?

Thank you,

Siva

    Thank you Charan,

I checked the following link. community.dynamics.com/.../701407

is it possible to create a new field in organization and  run workflow to update a new field with concatenated selected brandnames with N:1 relationship?

How to check if the subgrid values (brand names) changed to run a workflow

    Regards,

    Siva

    Hi Siva,

If I have understood your requirement correctly, you need to search Organization records by Brand Name under Active Organizations main grid view where, one Organization can have multiple Brand Names. This is not possible unless you store all brand names in one of the text field on Organization entity and add this column as a find column under Quick Find View. System allows to add find columns only from current entity, not from related entities.

For viewing, only current entity and parent entity columns can be added to the view, but not from the child entity.
