GP Version 2016 - Payroll Tax Update

Posted on by 1,930

If we are running 2016 GP - is it correct that

1/ we will not be able to update 2022 Payroll Tax Tables

2/ we will  not be able to generate W2/1099's for 2021

Please advise.

    Thanks Beat,

We are definitely aware, and changing to a new environment which is why we chose to not upgrade.  Alas - things change and now we scramble to buy some time.  I've done the upgrades since GP2010 and year-ends.  I'm just wondering if that will cause issues for Accounting in Jan 2022 when they start printing W2s (not changed).  No 2022 data will go in there...

    Hi Bill,

it is true that if you don't use any of the Forms updated by the year-end update, you could still keep printing from your current GP version.. the same is true for the tax-updates, as long as you know all the implications of that action... being fully aware that Microsoft won't support you if anything happens in relation with the Tax Tables..

I don't know your configuration and setup, but IMHO it's worth spending a couple hours with your VAR or a specialized consultant to get an estimate of how long much an upgrade would cost.

    Hi,

We too are on GP 2016.  This may be a dumb question...  If we don't use those forms listed on the link you provided (the "2021 Year-End Changes") - can we still send out valid 2021 1040 forms since they use pre-printed 1040 blanks?  Also - can we manually update tax tables as I can't seem to find anything out there saying yes or no...  ???

    Thanks,

    Bill

That is correct, if you are on GP 2016 to receive updates for this year end and payroll taxes, you need to upgrade.  So far there are no W2 changes, but there are a lot of Payables changes I have listed on this site.
