Migration of FRx6.7 SP12 to Management Reporter 2012.

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

We are planning to migrate FRx to MR2012.

The FRx instance has got 13 companies with 12 Specification sets.

11 companies are mapped to identical specification sets. Rest of the 2 companies
are mapped to a single specification set. In the company information tab, the GP
company is different in both the companies which has identical specification sets.

Here, I would like to clarify few things,
1. The companies with identical spefication sets will undergo any changes while on migration
2. Whether we can migrate more than 100 databases in one go by using "Compact FRx Database"
3. Is it possible to migrate individual companies though they all reside in single instance. If yes,
what are the steps to follow.

Server - Windows Server 2008

GP - v10 SP5

FRx version - 6.7 SP12

Sample Companies- removed
FRx Database - No MS Access

    Vinitha,

You will require the FRx 67 migration wizard that ships with MR install files. When you run the migration wizard, you will be required to supply the FRxsys32.mdb location and location of .f32 files.

The migration wizard overwrites everything in MR.

So you may want to run it just once and for all your companies.

It is possible to migrate only a few companies from FRx to MR. Here are the steps to follow.

    1. Perform a new install of FRx on a test machine.

    2. Export only the catalogs, rows, columns, trees that you require (from the few companies you wish) to a .tdbx file.

    3. On the FRx test machine, import the spec set from step 2.

    4. On the MR machine, export all building block groups to a suitable file location.

    5. Use this FRx install location from step 3 when you run FRx migration wizard.

    Good luck
