Delete Import Source File - any reason not to?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello all,

My organization makes heavy use of import jobs to load data into our Dynamics environment. So much so, in fact, that nearly 3 gb of storage space is consumed by the 5000+ Import Source Files created by our import jobs.

On our sandbox environment, I typically delete the import source files to reduce storage consumption.

Is there any reason to keep these Import Source Files around, besides having some ability to audit what goes into the system?

Thanks,

Logan

I don't believe so- I've been deleting them manually on a periodic basis.

Is there a way to set up a bulk deletion job to remove these import source files?

Sounds good! I've been tempted to clear it out for a while, but wasn't sure if I'd regret doing so later.

Nope, once the data is in, those are purely for historic reasons.

    You can delete those!
