Dynamics 365 Customer Service OnPremise Integration with Sharepoint Online

Posted on by 40

Hi there,

We have a plan to Integrate the Dynamics 365 Customer Service (On-Premise) with SharePoint Online.

At the moment, there is already integration of Dynamics 365 Customer Service (On-Premise) with SharePoint (On-Premise)

While it is evident that Server-Based SharePoint Integration is the recommended approach, enabling the this approach has the pre-requisites of enabling the IFD which in-turn needs Claims-based authentication.

My Question here is that we do not need IFD for the external access as all our users are internal users based on the Windows Active-Directory authentication. Whereas the Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and the Active Directory users are deployed on the same domain.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customerengagement/on-premises/admin/on-prem-server-based-sharepoint-online

My Questions:

As we do not need the external access, do we still need to enable the claims-based authentication over the Active Directory authentication?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customerengagement/on-premises/deploy/configure-ifd-for-dynamics-365

Can we go ahead with the IFD enabling without enabling the Claims-based authentication?

Raghu Bhupathiraju.

RE: Dynamics 365 Customer Service OnPremise Integration with Sharepoint Online

    Hi there,

I tried following steps but could not get through:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../on-prem-server-based-sharepoint-online

    debajmecrm.com/.../

    Step-1:

I installed the Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant Setup:

“Completed the Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant Setup”

    Step-2:

Tried the Installed Windows Management Framework 5.1

    Windows Update Standalone Installer

The update is not applicable to your computer

I am still facing following error in the Powershell:

    C:\Windows\system32> Install-Module MsOnline

Install-Module : The term ‘Install-Module’ is not recognized

operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a pat

    again.

    At line:1 char:1

    + Install-Module MsOnline

    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    + CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (Install-Module

    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException

Please advise on to go about it.

    Hi Raghu

My name is Jorge Landazabal, As you can see in the following article, one of the requirements to complete this action is that your Dynamics 365 On-Premise implementation already has IFD enabled. In this case, even if all your users enter from the same local network, they must complete the IFD configuration

Configure server-based authentication with Customer Engagement (on-premises) and SharePoint Online: Verify prerequisites

    docs.microsoft.com/.../on-prem-server-based-sharepoint-online
