As a means to clean up historical data on GP, I believe the Remove Transaction History tools available for Purchasing, Sales, Inventory, and Manufacturing can be used. When run, I understand that you will no longer be able to drill down to transactions or print reports with this data since they are removed. To maintain data integrity, we would not want this to change current YTD balances for our accounts that are based on previous year balances. Does running these Remove Trx History tools also change those balances? Or is it safe to use those tools to clear historical data without affect those balances?

I would just like to add provided that you do not reconcile your GL accounts after removing GL history. You will be given a warning if you try to do so. So if you purge 2000-2005 GL history and then reconcile those years, the balances for those years will go to zero.
GL balances are retained in separate tables, so removing other module history will not affect your account balances.
