Production Order Planning

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi boys!

Is it possible to trigger a production order to produce an item, whenever this item, reaches a certain minimum number in our stock? like we want to have a minimum amount of 10000 liters of alcohol+water in our tanks, so everytime that we have less than 10000 liters, trigger a production order to make 30000 liters. This seems to work with purhcases, but we dont buy this mixture, we produce it, and we want to produce large amounts of it as it makes no sense to produce only the amount contained in one sales order, when we can produce way more and stock it.

SKU is basically required, when you want to run planning engine for multiple locations.

If you have single location, you can manage at Item level and hence no need to create unnecessary SKU records and related data management is also not required.

    Hi Vishal,

Agreed with you. Just one question, how about setting up SKUs for this item?

You can setup the Reorder Point and Safety Stock for the required items.

Also setup the "Replenishment System" as "Prod. Order". Once you setup these parameters and run the planning engine, system would suggest you to create the Firm Planned Production Order, as soon as your quantity goes below Reorder Point.
