I am having this strange issue in GP 2013 SP2. I am trying to add a new Item Number in Item Maintenance. I enter Item Number and click on "Options" to open "Item Maintenance Options" window. The "Track:" drop down box is disabled. When I try the exact same steps in GP 2010, I don't have that issue. Is this a bug or new feature in GP 2013? Please help to confirm.

I just tested in my Fabrikam company in GP 2015 R2 (14.00.0725) and the issue still happens. Still not sure what's causing it. So at least now we know it's happening in all version GP 2013 to GP 2016
I know this is an old issue, but I was able to replicate this issue in GP 2016 in the Fabrikam company. If the Item Maintenance Options window is not open before entering the item in the Item Maintenance window, the "Track" option is grayed out. Anyone ever figure out why?
Is there a setting to turn this on? Or something that we may be missing...
Working correctly for me as well. I tested builds 1482 and 1538 (with the year end update) - works the same in both.
I have 2013 SP2 but version 12.00.1482 and it works fine.
I have never encountered any issues with GP 2013 SP2 regarding tracking options.
It is working perfectly as well.
It happens on my version too and I have no additional customizations or add-ons. It is for GP version 2013 SP2 12.00.1538.

Its a bug in your GP 2013 SP2. Not a feature or GP2013 SP2 bug. In my system it works perfectly.
I tested again making sure the Item Type is "Sales Inventory" but still same results. After serveral testing, I did however find a workaround which is as follows:
1. Open "Item Maintenance", Do not enter any new Item Number yet.
2. Click on "Options" button to open "Item Maintenance Options" window.
3. Keep the "Item Maintenance Options" window open and go back to "Item Maintenance" window.
4. Enter new Item Number in the "Item Maintenance" window, then the "Track:" (Track Option) is automatically enabled in the "Item Maintenance Options" window.
If anybody can repeat this issue in GP 2013 SP2, please share here. Thanks.
