What is the difference of the Gen Posting Types whether you put or not in Navision 2018?

Hi Community,

I would like to find out is there a difference for Gen Posting Type, if you put or do not put any type?

Are there any standard types?

    Hi Gulshan,

    I thought VAT and GST act as the same just that different countries uses different naming convention.

    Also when you mentioned, "So, if you are not using VAT (let's say you are using GST) then this field is not of any significance to you."

    I usually don't put, but system keeps prompting my users, and after I place them, then only navision allows them to post. So are you sure there is no significance?

    Hi,

    Gen. Posting Type defines whether the account is used only for a Sale or Purchase transaction or with both types of transactions.

    This  field is:

    • Used with the VAT Bus. Posting Group and VAT System Prod. Posting Group fields to find where the account posts VAT.
    • Filled in only for revenue and expense accounts where VAT is involved.

    So, if you are not using VAT (let's say you are using GST) then this field is not of any significance to you.
