GP10 install on 64 bit Windows 7 image

Posted on by 145

GP10 install on 64 bit Windows 7 image- I am new to the support end of GP and am trying to sort out why we have frequent errors (of various sorts), usually the dictionaries or forms. One suggestion I have seen is to reconcile security settings, but I cannot see that as an option and also need to figure out where that setting stems from in the roles. Thank you!

    Hi guys,

Just one slip of the finger.  The file in the SYSWOW64 folder is named   odbcad32.exe

I have many 7/64 workstations running Dynamics, I have not had any problems with reporting. Uninstalling the extra program files and starting anew might do wonders for you!

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

For the ODBC item, are you talking about the ODBC DSN not appearing in the drop-down list?  Go to c:\windows\syswow64 and run odbad32.exe.

Thank you for the reply, Beat!

Yes, this happens once GP is running. Some issues I have resolved by re-importing the package. I will see about getting an account created with one of those roles to have the ability to view those options when needed.  I had discovered the GP directory in the 64 and 32 bit Program Files, so I decided to uninstall and start with a clean slate on one particular user. But of course I am now researching that fix for the ODBC gripe in the Utilities set up. =)

    Thanks again...having a blast! =O

    Cheryl,

Do the problems / buggs happen once GP is running or is it during the startup process of the clients ? there are only two option in the reconcile that you can apply to Security : - User Company Access and Alternate/Modified Operation assignement...

Have a look at : Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Utilities >> System >> Reconcile

There are a few tables concerned by the security that you can reconcile, but that's more related to some specific tasks in the GP I think.

To access the System Reconcile form, you need to be either in the Role of IT Ops Mgr or PA Mgr (by default it's the task ADMIN_SYSTEM_006*).

    Good luck.

Thank you for the tip, though I have scoured the forums and nothing seems to fit quite right with our situation. Seems the most common cause/answer is a dictionary pointing to an incorrect location...these are local and match what the dynamic.set file says. Finding where I can allow a user account to display the "reconcile" for "security assignment" is possibly a first step. Performing that task may resolve a couple of these, but I do not see where in the roles to change it.
