Understanding Basic concepts of Development in F&O

Hello EveryOne,

I am an Absolute Beginner in Dynamcis F&O. I have developed basic Ecommerce, CRM Projects etc before. I just want to know about F&O Development for working in a project.

I have gone through the X++ Programming concepts. Thats Fine. 

But I have doubts with the accounting related codes and tables. For ex, Posting Journal, Inventory Transactions are bit confusing. InventTrans, ProdJournal, inventJournal etc tables are used in code. I couldnt able to understand the purpose of those kind of tables.

I have searched for documents related to this tables, no luck.

Please provide some information or any useful links to understand when those kind of tables need to be filled, what are the purpose of those tables etc.

    There are literally thousands of tables in F&O, many of which have interrelationships due to the normalized nature of F&O schema.  Compared to a CRM system, there are hundreds of accounting rules that must be adhered to in the processing and reporting of transactions, from general ledger, to inventory, fixed assets, banking, project accounting, human resources & payroll, etc., etc.  Development normally requires collaboration with a functional SME to understand the business requirements and translation of those requirements into code, all of which must adhere to rigid accounting standards.  As you can imagine, a fair amount of formal training and significant experience are required to become proficient developing for F&O.  This is not intended to discourage you but to provide a realistic baseline for your expectations.  Every F&O developer was a beginner at one time.

    Hi Dej,

    There is no public documentation about all the tables and how to use them in coding. You can use the development environment where the tables have a small development documentation description. You can use cross references to find out where exactly what is being used.

    It would take time and experience to get yourself familiar with the data model.
