Transaction Import (Journal Transactions)

Posted on by 325

Folks I have got as far as generating the  Transaction import control file, however I need to understand more clearly how to create the DTAfile. I have some experience here in that when I needed a DAT file in the past I simply did it in Excel and saved it as CSV , however I need to match this DTA file with te CTL and I cannot seem to do so.

any advice would be welcome

Regards

Bradley Georges

If you are having trouble reading the Intelligent control file, try the simple control file.  It is a list of fieldnames in the proper order.  The intelligent file gives you more information, such as Possible Values and which fields are required.

Also, *in general*, the order of the fields and lines is the same as the screen.  So it may help you to take a screen shot showing all the fields, and keep that in front of you while you set up your spreadsheet.

    HI Bradley,

I suggest you to open your control file in notepad and create your DTA file by looking at the each importfields() statement for the first time. So that you can match them easily. Once you create the DTA file for the first time, you can save it as a template(CSV) file. You can use this for future DTA file creation.
