Mandatory Arrears Not Working

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Since we upgraded to 2013 R2- our Mandatory arrears is not working like it had in the past. We have always used the Post Batches- and selected all Arrears templates to run our Deductions in Arrears. It has worked great in the past. However, now it does not work. Was there a change in 2013 R2 (we had 2013 before). If we run the Mandatory Arrears for a single deduction template then it works great. We have close to 200 deductions so this would take a long time to run for each one individually.

One thing that we noticed is that for the Arrears Template Setup window there  is a "Check Date From". In the How-To it states that this will be updated when the Mandatory Arrears is run. However, this date has never changed from the date that we setup the Templates originally. (Even though this date did not update the Mandatory Arrears worked great until we updated to 2013 R2.)

Or maybe all of this is a result of this being our first payroll in 2015???? Any input is appreciated.

Hi Scott, this is Terry from Microsoft.

I wanted to reply to the forum post as well that this is a quality issue in the product and we look to fix this in a future service pack.  Then no matter if you have arrears or not your template dates will always update.  Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, have a great week.

We dug even deeper- it worked for some of our deductions. Not all....

It seems to be something with the "Check Date From" field on the Arrears Template Setup. From the help menu- it states that this date field should be updated when the Mandatory Arrears function runs. It appears that the date is only updated if a deduction is missed by an employee (Deduction in Arrears). However, if a deduction does not happen to be missed by anyone then the date is not updated.  Should the "Check Date From" be updated to all Templates every payroll that is run (independent of if the deduction is actually missed by an actual employee)??

We dug a little deeper. I appears that the Mandatory Arrears did run and update the appropriate employees correctly. However, the report that was displayed did not have any records. So, does anyone have any idea why the report would have come back with zero records (report had the header, etc).
