Smartlist builder permission issue

Posted on by 175

Hi -

I have issue crearting a smartlist from smartlist builder. I get permission error. I get zero results when I runa  smartlist cretaed by sys admin. I am a poweruser on GP. here is what I did.

As  a sa (sys admin) I created a smartlist  using smartist builder.  I used data connection to create the smart list. Made sure the secuirty is setup for sql tables and data conenction. When I (sa) run the smartlist, I get the rigth results. But when another GP user who is a poweruser tries to run the same smartlist, he doesn't get any results.  Same poweruser when tries create the same smartlist from smartlist builder using data conenction he gets this error.

GPS error 68:

Sql Error 229: Select permission denied on object "Account"

I thought a power user should have all the permissions on all the objects. Any idea why power user doesn't have permissions on these objects and where I can set the right permissions?

Thanks,

Rekha

Thank you all for your replies. For now,  I granted select permission to Dyngrp on Account, Account Summary view and it worked. I think Grant.sql must be doing the same thing but on more objects. I will  run the script if i run into this issue for other objects.

You may want to run "Grant.sql" file on the company DB (or DYNAMICS DB or both, depending on where your SQL object reside). This will certainly clear the above issue.

You can find "grant.sql" file from GP Application directory -> SQL (folder) -> Util (Folder) -> Grant.sql

    Hope that helps.

It could be that the user whom you have set as power user may not have enough rights in SQL tables that's  used in smart list builder. Provide sufficient rights in SQL for the user.
