Part - BOM - Part availability by event report to confirm part availability

Hi,
 
I am new to D365, so looking for some help / advice.
 
When we get a new order in for a part (ex. H126) which has a BOM containing items which we purchase. I am looking for a quick way to check all purchase parts in the BOM, to see if there is enough stock available to produce the quantities of the H126
 
Is there a report that you can use to check each part under the BOM, looking at each part by EVENT based on stock and other item demands in the system, if there is enough stock to make the parts for the designated dates in the system.
 
Top Part -> BOM -> Purchase Parts -> Item - By Event -> [Is stock available?]

    You can also try the Item Availability by BOM Level which you can open from the top part. This page will tell you how many units of the top part you can make and which components are the bottleneck.

    The two out-of-the-box solutions are creating the Production Order and running the BOM Shortage Report (paper based) or using the Planning Worksheet to get the suggestions on what to make/purchase.
     
    The Planning Worksheet is the proactive approach, it uses the demand date of the Sales Order to create the Production Order (suggestion) which triggers the demand for its BOM and suggests purchases for any BOM components that are missing or meet specific planning parameters.  The concept is to run the Planning Worksheet run daily or at least a couple times per week.
     
    The BOM Shortage report is a reactive approach, where you create a Prod. Order and then look to see what is missing.  Then you either manually make your Purchase Orders or run the Planning Worksheet to generate those orders.
     
    You can also go the customization route and add some fields to your BOM which calculate the Material Availability, make them turn red if they are short or can't hit the need date based on lead times, etc.
