Hello Team,

I need update a Business Central from Cumulative update 3 to Cumulative Update 7. The

According to this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4469914 the steps for install a Business Central cumulative update are:

1) Install a .fob file.

1.1) compile

1.2) syncronize with validation

2) Uninstall old cumulative update

3) Install setup.exe of new cumulative update

Are correct these steps? I have a lot of data in the tables that I can not lose and I'm not sure about the order of execution of these steps.

Best regards.

Installing a CU is essentially two main phases:

    - Merge objects: you have a list of changes to standard objects, you need to add them to your existing objects

    - Update the EXE and DLLs of your service tier and client.

    Thanks for the reply.

I need to compile and synchronize (with validation, force) after installing the .fob file, and before installing the .EXE?

Force is not always needed. Try with synch (standard), use force only if needed (schema changes). It’s quite a simple step moving from Cu 3 to 7.
