Registration of a new user on a customer portal

Posted on by 130

Hi all

I gave registered new user at a customer portal - entered first name and last name and e-mail.

After that I went to the Contact list at CRM and found that only field with e-mail was filled.

Fields with First and Last name remains empty.

What could be the reason?

    Hi,

If its visible for new registration but not old then this could be caused if the email confirmed field is checked.

If its not visible at all then this could be cause if the global site setting 'Authentication/Registration/RequiresConfirmation' is false

    Hi all

Thank you all for your answers. We fixed the problem - the reason was that we added new form for contact and it was a conflict between two forms during saving of data which reflected the portal.

Now I faced a problem with e-mail confirmation - after submitting of button "Confirm e-mail" e-mail doesn't appear.

Any suggestions why it could happen?

    - Boris

    Hi,

Did you click on update after providing the first name and last name on the profile page?

    This works normally as below-

When you register the new user in portal, it is created with blank first name & last name. However, once you update the First Name & Last Name in portal. It will be updated in CRM as well. It also starts visible on the top right menu.

Login to your portal and see if you can see the name at the top right corner. If not, click on the down error (again top right corner) and select My Profile. This will open the profile page. There you provide the First Name & Last Name and hit update.

    Hope this helps

That would be my guess too.

firstname, lastname, fullname and address1_name are all candidates

My guess: your portal firstname and lastname are concatenated into contact: fullname or contact: address1_name

    Hi,

1 possibility is that the fields between the cusomer portal and the CRM aren't correctly mapped.

To be sure, could you relog in on your customer portal with your email address and look at your personnal data.

If it is filled, it implies the mapping is incorrect. To find were the datas were saved. You can create an advance find and select all columns for this contact and then you can correct the mapping.

If it is empty, then I think there was an error during the saving process.
