GP package file still going to GP2018

Posted on by 75,730

I know this has been requested before but it has yet to be corrected. When you create a package file to install GP using the latest version of GP it is still deploying GP into the GP2018 folder despite specifying GP. When can we expect this to be corrected?

Is there a GP group in Facebook? Maybe we could sign up for all those GP users that those emails promise us. There may be one or two valid GP users in those lists!!!

    Hi Richard,

The idea has gotten some love and currently shows 18 votes!

Thank you also to Lisa Ireland to comment on the idea and add the fix to the ODBC link that still gets created with the name "Dynamics GP 2018", which is misleading too.

Let's keep spreading the word and vote on this idea, in the hope it will be picked up soon by the MS team in Fargo

    Hi Richard,

I agree.. would love to post and blog about it, but where did you find it ? which category? I searched and  nothing returned with words like "path" or "package" or "deployment"..

Never mind.. found my own suggestion here: https://experience.dynamics.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=5e8780ae-403e-ea11-8454-0003ff68aeb1

    :-D

Beat, I see it only has four votes.

Maybe we should have a mail-in campaign???

    Richard,

I've been reporting this bug to Microsoft since the release of the 'Next GP' version back in 2019, and also hoped it would be fixed anytime soon.. but I think I'll keep my prayers for another decade..

I do change it to just GP but it continues.  I will vote for this.

Right now, I don't see it specified as to when it may be fixed.

The work-around listed is to "use a non-default install path in the package, i.e. instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP18. While the package directory still shows a GP 2018/default MSI install path, it will redirect correctly to a non-default path."

I'd add and/or vote this up as a Product Suggestion via this link >> Categories (dynamics.com)

    Thanks
