I have created a custom batch job. I like to prioritise this batch job. Is it possible?

Could you please elaborate which part you don't understand and what you'd like to demonstrate by an example? Trying to rephrase the whole documentation and giving you a random example of some aspect doesn't sound efficient. Please be more specific about what you actually need.

What I understood, to get this feature we should enable "batch scheduling," in Feature management.

Once we got this, I saw we have an option for scheduling priorities like

Low

High

Normal

Reserved

My question is here, how this priorities will work in real world. If I set to high or reserved.

To understand the value of Priority-based Batch Scheduling, the following explanation should help clarify how it works in practice. Priority based scheduling (PBS) improves how batch jobs are distributed across AOS batch servers.

Previously, batch groups had to be assigned to specific batch servers, which could result in one server being overloaded while others remained idle. With PBS, batch jobs are scheduled based on their priority rather than a fixed server assignment.

For example, if one server is busy processing a large number of MRP jobs while another server is available, the available server can pick up other high-priority batch jobs instead of waiting for a specific server. This provides better resource utilization, improves batch throughput, and ensures that critical business processes such as invoice posting, payments, or inventory close are processed more efficiently.

I hope Batch will not check the Priority alone while executing the batch jobs. It will check the batch scheduled time and status (Waiting) and look for the available threads as well.

Okay, so you want to know how this priorities will work in real world and you want a concrete example. It's already covered in the documentation, so let me simply quote it:

For example, suppose there are 100 batch tasks for processing. Forty tasks come from the reserved queue, 30 from the critical queue, 15 from the high queue, 10 from the normal queue, and five from the low queue. The system doesn't select the priority-based order of execution for processing. Instead, it uses the weight of the batch tasks from each priority.

Priority	Weight
Low	5%
Normal	5%
High	15%
Critical	30%
Reserved capacity	40% + Dedicated X threads

As you see, it doesn't mean that the system will process all tasks of the highest priority before taking any other. Instead, it tries to schedule tasks of all priorities, but it'll give a higher weight to those with higher priorities when assigning tasks. In the example above, you'll still get forty tasks (not all one hundred) with the highest priority and five tasks (5%) with the lowest priority.

By the way, it's not true that distribution over multiple batch servers wasn't possible before. A batch group can be associated with multiple batch servers, not just one, and then all those servers process jobs for the given batch group.

Hi,

I think the last reply from Martin should help you. I addition, configuring all batch jobs and tag them for a specific priority requires some overthinking. The recurrence and at what time of the day is an important factor to take into consideration as well. E.g. having 1000 batch jobs running with a recurrence of 1 minute is not recommended.
