G/L Budgets Amount and Quantity

Do you see any issues with creating a new field in G/L Budget to also allow for Quantity. In our requirement we would like to budget for a dollar amount which actually equates to a QTY. The Quantity can be a separate field or preferably and more desirability have a lookup table to return the quantity * amount = total_amount

Any issues you can think of?

    It’s a discrete enough change to not impact. Take it you have a plan for using that data in reporting? Typical budget analysis would happen with account schedules. This will not know about your new field unless that is changed too. I think a separate reporting solution is better suited.

    We are also thinking this isn’t much of a change.

    We couldn’t use the account schedules as you’ve identified, so will probably go out to powerbi for their variance reports.

    Ideally they’d like to have a reference on how much each unit costs or calculate quality x unit so that they can budget for when there’s an expected change in the unit price. Our example is expected costs for electricity per month per dimension. This is to be reported in dollars and units.

    Hello,

    I am not sure if you are trying to just add a Quantity field to a G/L Account or create what is called a Statistical Account. If the latter, check this FREE APP:
