Skipping the Report Destination Window in batch posting

Posted on by 25

I am using Continuum to automate the posting of sales and financial batches, which works fine.  The issue is I can't figure out how to skip the report destination windows, which obviously hold up the automation.  I've read up on named printers, but it seems to me that their use won't eliminate the report windows.  Back in the old days (6.0 for me), I beleive they had a NoPrintDialogs=TRUE option that you added to DEX.INI, but it doesn't seem to work any longer.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you are referring to the Report Destination window that pops up after the posting starts, I haven't seen where the "Ask Each Time" checkbox does much of anything.  However, you're post got me looking in the setup options and I think I found a solution.  In the posting setup window, you can specify the print option (ask, screen, printer, file) which led me to set up the reports so they replace existing text files.  This isn't as ideal as skipping the prompts/files entirely, but it does the job.

Thanks for giving me the idea that led to an acceptable workaround!

This, I guess, can be suppressed from Posting Setup form, where you can unselect the "Ask Each Time (Question Mark)" checkbox for the respective reports.

Just make sure that you have setup a destination on the same form for the reports and then unselect the "Ask Each Time" option.

    Hope that helps.
