D365 F&O Cloud Data Tables Database direct with in Power BI

Posted on by 7
Hello, How can I get D365 F&O Cloud Tables direct in Azure or Fabric without using Data Entities? I'm new to D365 F&O having no experience, I need to create Power BI reports from D365 F&O cloud, i don't want to use/develop Data Entities, I just want to use D365 F&O database/tables in power bi. is it possible?

@Andre, I'm not able to sync anything, I have Dataverse environment with D365 F&O tables, but i'm not able to get these tables into power BI via Dataverse connector available in Power BI. Also I'm not able to sync those tables to Fabric or Azure. I followed the steps shared by Jonas and have Power BI premium per user with Fabric Trial, but got error (image attached). To be honest this is the first time I recognized that D365 F&O tables available in (Power Apps) Dataverse environment. So it means D365 F&O database is dataverse, i'm right ? correct me if i'm wrong. thank you. please help

@Andre yeah I agree... And the next step is to get an understanding of the data model.
Getting the tables (and Fabric/Synapse Link) up and running is the easy part.

    Hi Fahadqadir,

You mentioned that you need all the tables. This is a wrong starting point. You need to know the reporting requirements and then select only the tables to be synced that will be used for reporting. There is a limit on the number of tables you can sync using the Synapse link and Fabric link. I thought the limit was 1000. This should be sufficient for reporting needs. You don't need all 15000+ tables.

Syncing too many tables will give an unnecessary load and you will need to pay for storage and/or capacity.

    These are tables, not entities.

The links of course, and then also the material that the Microsoft FastTrack team hosts on Github: https://github.com/microsoft/Dynamics-365-FastTrack-Implementation-Assets/tree/master/Analytics/DataverseLink/FabricWorkshop

I cannot remember any videos right now, unfortunately.

Fabric material itself, not F&O, is readily available in the community.

Keep in mind you are working with a very complicated data model, so it's a good idea to join heads with a colleague or consultant that knows the data model.

Yes, absolutely! There are both a Fabric and Synapse link feature, all administered in Power Platform, that are pushing data directly.

I'll just drop some links. Let me know if you need more information, for example on what technology that might be the best fit.

Fabric is clearly the easiest in my experience.
