Odd Cascade Behavior

Posted on by 10

I'm really not sure how to describe this issue succintly, so I'll give the long version:

We have an entity "relationship" which contains 3 relevant lookup fields.

Related Account -> Links to Account

Related Contact -> Links to a contact

Related User -> Links to a System User.

In the old CRM 2016 on-prem enviornment, if you were to update the account on the contact record, the "relationship" record's account would also change.  However, when we moved to crm Online, that behavior no longer persists.  I'm not able to ask the original developers/configurers so I'm not sure where to look.  I've reviewed the cascade settings and they seem to be the same, and there arent any busines rules or workflows that modify these fields (also not even sure how they would do it).

    Hi,

Could you please enable plugin tracing from system settings and perform the same operation then see if any plugins related to that entity is getting fired.

If possible can you please send scrennshot of relationship behaviour and mapping to investigate further.

If found helpful, Please mark my answer verified.

Another possibility here is that the Relationship Mappings have not been configured in the same way.  These can be found in the Mappings tab of the relationship.  If it is not a plugin, workflow, or other custom action, relationship mapping differences are the next most likely possibility.

    Hi @mdannemiller,

Have you already checked if the old environment has a plugin to do that?

It's possible that your legacy customizations are firing errors on the crm online.

Do you already checked the System jobs errors and the log entity(if you have one for this)

    Best Regards
