I have the same requirement from our client to control budget for Inventory Movement Journal.
Scenario :
- When buying inventory they post in Balance sheet and control budget by balance sheet account with purchasing department.
- As per requirement for using by department ( Example HR, Acc ) they are issuing inventory movement with offset account = PL account then they need to control by budget by department ( HR, ACC...)
How can we set up

I wanted to follow up with you on this thread. I understand that you would like to track budget control on Inventory Movement Journal. There is no an option to track this document type in the Budget Control Config. So this would have to be done through a customization or some ISV if there is one out there for this. If this is something you would like to see added to the product you can always enter a product suggestion.

I totally agree with Ludwig, in addition, if you want to control still, you can use a balance sheet account instead of PL account in Inventory Journal. then, you can transfer balances to pl account with a ledger journal at the and of period (in this matter, you can control budget)

What sense does such a budget control make?
The money is already spent after you purchased the items and put them on inventory.
If you control and possibly block the usage of the items when you post an inventory movement journal then things don't get better.
In other words, the money is already gone and it won't come back even if you stop users from posting the movement journals.
