Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi

I would like to know what is the difference.

I have an existing production company a database, when I create a new company in the database, will it have the same structure as the production database?

Thanks.

    hi,

The create company will have all the common data shared by all the companies across the database, i.e, the data from the tables where the "DataPerCompany" is set to No.

    Best Regards,

Yes. Create a new company will have same data structure without data and copy company will have both structure and data.

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

If I create a new company within the same database as the production company, it will have the exact same data structure like report (including customize) but no data. Copy company will have both structure, reports (including customize) and all data as well?

    Hi,

Yes it will have same structure as the production database. Objects are same for all the companies. Just the data is different for different company. Also if table has property datapercompany set to No then data are same for all companies.
