Not able to run depreciation after asset life reset

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

Hope someone can help me on my issue.  We closed our FA module (Fixed Asset Module - GP 2015) without depreciating couple of days in the prior year.  When we went to run the deprecation in the new year in the first period, it looks like it took depreciation for the entire year of the prior year.  We were recommended to reset asset life to fix this issue, which we followed.  The process rest the life and looks be in align, but the issue i am having is that the module will not depreciate any further into the second period.  When i run the depreciation it says that it is processing, but doesn't finish.  In the test company i did depreciate one asset and it worked, but it won't do for all the assets.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Satinder

    Hi Satinder,

What we have seen occur in this situation when you are able to run it on one asset but not on all assets, is that there is an issue with one of the assets. When the depreciation is hanging, can you click on "Redisplay" in the Fixed Assets Progress window (Inquiry >> Fixed Assets>>Progress) to see which asset is not progressing? Then you can look at that asset further to see if you can try to determine why it is hanging. If you need further assistance with reviewing the asset or troubleshooting this issue further, I would recommend that you open a support case so that we can assist you further with this issue. Issues such as these that require additional troubleshooting are best to get assistance through a support case.

    Thanks,
