32 bit GP EFT Emails using 32 bit Outlook and connection methhod

I have a customer who is GP EFT and sending out emails related to the EFT process. The customer is using 32 bit GP and 32 bit Outlook for this purpose. The customer is reporting that intermittently, the EFT email process freezes while sending emails with no errors to report. The theory is that the program is not handling 'mail server is busy try again' message.

My question related to this issue is, what is the method used by GP to connect to Outlook in order to send the email messages? Is it MAPI or ?
