Thanks Derek for pointing that bug out.. which brings us to the 1st where Julia is likely to have to upgrade her GP 18.00.0400 (RTM) to the latest GP Fall release to fix those issues.

    RE: Workflow - Home page

How the Procurement tile is supposed to work, is more for originators that have submitted requisitions for approval, so that they can see the number of requisitions that are still pending user action, have been saved and not submitted through Workflow, rejected, as well as those that have been Final Approved/Completed through Workflow, and thus can be converted into a purchase order.  We’ve had confusion over the GP versions and years enough that we put out the following blog to explain this tile:

    community.dynamics.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp-2015-r2-the-39-procurement-39-tile-what-it-is-and-how-it-can-be-used

We did have a 'bug' with the Procurement tile, that was actually fixed in the GP 18.3/Oct 2020 Fall release. This issue exists in Dynamics GP 2015, GP 2016 and GP 2018, so you're correct that there was a change along the way, if you're currently on GP 18.3.

    community.dynamics.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp-2020-new-feature-blog-series-schedule-410418203

The issue that this fixed is that the ‘Pending User Action’ tile in the Procurement section will show that you have requisitions pending your approval if you have multiple steps in the requisition workflow and have already approved your step.

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks

    Beat,

So what will show me in GP will be what the domain user has assigned?

If I enter the domain with a user who does not have approvals, will the box appear empty?

    RE: Workflow - Home page

    Julia,

My understanding is that the Workflows are independent of the user settings in the GP user security.. this is only used for the Web Client and Self-service users as far as I remember. Even if you wouldn't have a Windows user linked to your GP account, that should work too, as in my case the GP 'sa' user was not linked with any Windows account..

    pastedimage1633541390258v1.png

The whole Workflow engine is really only based on which current Windows user is running the GP application.. nothing else. The hierarchy is based on the AD (Active Directory) and on who is reporting to whom to drive the notifications/approvals.

If you want some good literature, purchase this book from Ian Grieve:

PS: realized now there is a 3rd edition: https://publishing.azurecurve.co.uk/books-by-ian-grieve/microsoft-dynamics-gp-workflow-third-edition/

    Beat,

I started the windows session with the user joined to the user GP

    pastedimage1633540750588v1.png

And now the box is updated

    pastedimage1633540876977v2.png

I found users who do not have the windows user configured, in my case I was as administrator.

I will check the user setup and check the windows user match.

    So thanks...

    Julia

    RE: Workflow - Home page

    Julia,

I managed to re-install a GP 2018RTM version (build 18.00.0400) and tested the requisition WF.. it does behave as expected when logged into GP with the correct domain user.. when I was logged in with my usual domain account in Windows, it would show the requisition list, but the counter would be 0.

    Bellow screenshots shows the difference..

    pastedimage1633536030969v1.png

This GP session was started under the MR2012 service account (sorry I don't have that many domain users in my TEST system)

I believe that Microsoft likely changed some of the behavior of the Workflow engine between 2018 RTM and GP 18.2 / 18.3 or 18.4.

This is likely to work "by design" and Microsoft might done some enhancements to it. Please check which Windows Domain user you're logged in before starting GP, or try start GP under a different domain account.
