Linking financial elements to MS Dynamics

Posted on by 5

Good afternoon all,

I am quite new to MS Dynamics and have a question about the possibility of linking financial elements to client records. We are currently using MS Dynamics to record basic information about our clients, for example name address, which site they will be linked too and package of support requirements, however this is basically it, quite static.

What I would like to know is if it is possible to return information back to the client record when a site is picked and their requirements are entered. For example if I had a client called Mary and she was to have support from Lodge View. When I selected Lodge View on her CRM record it could link to a SQL table holding Lodge View information and tell me that A) there are vacancies at that location, and B) when I put in levels of support she needed it would give me a costing for her based on calculations in Dynamics.

Ideally once these costs were confirmed it would write this information back to the SQL tables to update them.

Any information about if this is possible, pointers to videos or an idea of what MS Dynamics modules I would need would be great

Thanks

James

    Hi,

Yes this is possible and will use Sales module majorly.

If you have dev capabilities in reach, I would suggest you to start with creating relationships in mscrm (lookups and subgrids majorly), leveraging contacts, accounts, products, quots, orders, appointments entities in sales module.

If you want to do case management also for customers, 'service' is the module you can look for.

With the high level requirement information in your query, I would assume this is a work which would need CRM dev expertise and is a work which would need decent effort.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Hi,

data can be linked to Dynamics in both ways (from and to) without issues. There are several ways to implement this kind of scenario (Power Automate, Plugins, Webhooks, Web Resources, Azure Functions, ...) but really depends on what you want to achieve and how.

My suggestion is to find a Microsoft Partner or an experienced developer to assist you.

    hope it helps
