Team Licenses

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi All

I was hoping someone could help, I've been trying to evaluate the licensing model for CRM 365 and the info on Team Licenses seems a little vague. I took out a trial and purchased one team license, but the user I've assigned it to seems to be able to do things that should not be possible, making testing invalid. I was hoping someone could tell me whether users licensed with a team license can create records for custom entities they have create rights for, or if this is not an option.

Microsoft have gone down the route of "your licenses your problems" when it comes to Team Member Licenses. As far as I can tell, you will need to create "Team Member" roles to ensure your users are compliant with what the license allows. Really annoying, but hey ho...

    Hi Aric

Thanks for the information, it does help. I saw in Licensing guides that Microsoft uses the word "Edit", and I found that a little confusing as I wasn't sure if that meant users can create records - that's why I tried to see if I could do it myself in a trial that ultimately didn't confirm anything as I could create any type of record on a team license!

Yes, they should be able to create records for custom entity (as long as their security role permits).

Team Licenses are basically an upgrade from the previously know Essential license, which allowed making changes to custom entities.

Basically team members have access to Edit Accounts, Contacts, Activities, Notes, Shared Calendar, Annoucements, KB, User Dashboards/Reports, Custom Entities and more.

See the license guide (appendix A: Key Team Member Features)

    Hope this help.
