Hello,

I like to update existing functionality of uploading several excelfiles depending on path and file name according to the Universal Code Initiative.

Is this possible and how can this be done.

Thanks a lot for putting me to the right direction.

Regards

Chris

    Hello,

thanks for the response but I‘m just asking for possibilities to automate the process without prompting a file dialog box to the user.

Until now I‘m using target onprem but in the future it should be cloud ready.

    Regards

    Chris

    Hi Chris

this is very much possible and I have done this several times. I don’t know all your details but if your excel files are on a server and you would like to get this data into a bc table then the highlevel solution is the following.

create an azure blog storage container and run a server schedule job on your onpremise server to upload excel file to the azure storage blob container with the azcopy. Code an AL code unit which on schedule runs and connect to the azure storage blob container and retrieves the data in the excel and add it to array, xml, csv, etc depending upon size and what you wish todo later. There are several ways to go here. Then within code crud your data onto the tables you wish to import the data.

    Hi Mox,

thanks a lot for your input. Problem is that some customers are not allowed to use the Microsoft cloud and azure  due to law regulations. They are using BC on prem in their own network.

Maybe there is a workaround to skip user interaction as needed by „cloudfriendly actions“?

    Regards

    Chris

If you are on-prem you could probably use some .net components to do this unattended.

For BC online you will have to use Azure blob storage or another kind of web service to do it.

Hi,  I agree with Inge. If you are the On-Premise version, you can do the same as the previous NAV.

The If you're SaaS, you have to change your mind because BC SaaS can't read local files.

Here are a few solutions, hope helps.
