Production order -how to spread component cost to Product Family Members.

Hi, 

I am trying to use Production order to capture cost of 1 Meat bloc (defined as component), and have the cost absorbed into different cut size (defined as Product Family) e.g. sabu sabu, steak , and waste fat.

Business Central only pass the component cost to the first finished good line which the component was attached to. Production order lines did not receive any cost. 

Is there any workaround for this scenario ?

    Hi

    Maybe I am missing something here. When you create item family you select different items (cut of meat) then if each of those have a bom then it should use and post based on their bom. Am I missing something here? I mean if you only have BOM for the first item then system behaves correctly.

    If you can add BOM then define the usage of BOM for each item (waste fat, sabu, steak, etc) and for usage in BOM define percentage of the cut size (like .25 or something like that) then try.

    Hi,

    Got it. your suggestion worked.

    For every finished good, i tagged a component. For 3 FG , 3 component lines from same item no. 

    As the component is Lot no.tracked. User will have to Select Lot no. in Item Tracking line eg. 3 times.

    Wonder is there a way to select Lot No once.

    Thanks for providing feedback here.

    I spent lots of time on select Lot No once idea before (for internal project). It has lots of pros and cons. Like how about team did not use similar lot but since assign once was easy they did not bother to change it.

    I know everything is possible in BC through development. You can check with developer on this. But first make sure that does not impose risk on business specially in Food industry.
