Hi
im trying to det up our scanner to be used in goods receival. The idea is that we use receive and items are on a temporarely location until put away is done. But as our put away can take some time we noticed that the received items are showing up as available on orders and website. Is there any way to hide the stock until put away is completed?
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

This is a classic side-effect of using a receiving location with Tasklet on top of standard BC. The moment you Post Receipt, BC creates the Item Ledger Entry and the quantity becomes part of Inventory. Put-away does not bring stock into existence, it just moves it between bins. So sales and the website see it straight away.

The cleanest fix is to make the receiving area a separate Location, for example RECV, and keep it out of availability. The website connector and the sales process should look only at the main warehouse. Put-away then becomes a Transfer Order from RECV to the main location, and stock shows as available only after the transfer is received.

If everything must stay on one Location with bins, a dedicated Receiving Bin works internally, but the web shop will still see total location stock. In that case, the fix belongs on the integration side. Most connectors can subtract the receiving bin quantity, or accept a calculated "Available Quantity" field equal to Inventory minus Qty. on Receiving Bin.

Tasklet itself does not change this, the answer is on how BC locations and the web integration are set up.

Hello, is it possible to choose another location instead of shelf when we do receive function? And put away gets it from there and transfer it to our Warehouse? Or do we need to have consultants to help us? Was hoping we could just hide the items.. trying not to spend to much money

Hi, You can create a transfer order and post shipment after receiving the items; the items will then be stored in the in-transit location.

    Thanks

    Hello,
Yes and no: after you post the receipt, BC treats the items as inventory, so if your orders/website look at plain Inventory/available inventory, they will show; the correct warehouse setup is to receive into a RECEIVE bin, QC bin, blocked/dedicated/non-pickable bin, and only move it to a PICK/PUTPICK bin when put-away is done, because BC’s warehouse picking availability uses Pickable Qty. and excludes stock that is blocked, dedicated, pending put-away, or in non-pickable flows. So for BC picks this can be handled by bin setup; for the website you may need to change the integration to publish “pickable/available to sell” stock instead of total inventory.
