Good Afternoon Dynamics Sales Community,
I did a brief search in the existing posts and was unable to find the information I was looking for. We have been utilizing Dynamics 365 for approximately 11 years and we are embarking on a refresh to the model driven approach. With this, we are looking as some fairly large changes to our implementation to simplify and accelerate our business processes. I am hoping there are some ideas out in the community about how to tackle the following challenge.
As a reseller of technology and services to various clients throughout the US, we utilize dynamics to manage our opportunities. Unfortunately, we do not have what I would call a static price list that we can apply. With over 100 different manufacturers that we work with, SKUs, pricing and quote formats that come to us are constantly changing. To date, we utilize a product list that includes products, i.e. Microsoft 365 Subscription or Microsoft Migration Services as examples. The price list itself has almost no function in our current deployment since Microsoft 365 Subscription can come in many flavors/prices and the Migration Services are likely to be custom each time. We typically receive a hard quote from one of the manufacturers directly or from a distributor and they are often in different formats.
As we look to the next iteration of deployment, it seems that this business model continues to be largely unsupported from a Dynamics perspective. Has anyone conquered this challenge?
In an ideal world, we would import a quote that we receive into Dynamics and then be able to utilize the tool to determine pricing based on cost/list price as well as to generate forecasts and quotes, etc. without having to manually enter in the numbers in summary categories like Microsoft 365 Subscription which is obviously leaving us open to error.
Ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance!
