Project timesheet delegation to another approver

Hello experts,

We have workflows for project timesheets. I have an approver (A) who is sick. There were a couple to timesheets submitted which were sitting in his workitem to approve. Now, I (system admin) had to manually reassign this timesheet to another approver (who is higher than A in hierachy).

I see 'Delegation' under Project management and accounting > Setup > Timesheets > All delegates. This field has not worked for the scenarios mentioned above.

1. So this (field) is just for common delegation and not approval?

2. For my scenario, I want to define a delegation for the timesheets to automatically get reassigned in the workflow. Is it possible? Is there anything which I am missing or it has to be defined in the workflow?
