Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

Plug ins 3rd party

We are new to GP. Would like to know if is there is a website/s that 3rd party developers post their products?

We are in need of help to simplify batch processing to start. We are also in desperate need of a plug-in that process customer returns and returns to vendors. There is a very limited solution out of the box (SalesPad too). Returns are as serious as taking an order. Even more serious when returning to a vendor.  If there is a group that would like to partner with developing this utility I'm interested in that discussion, among other needed functionalities that our Partner cant help us with.

In addition, we are surprised Microsoft GP doesn't consider that its clients would have a website interface (limited connectivity areas, such as there are NO categories in GP to map products to a website). We have 1800 categories, 120,000 skus, 55,000 customers. Also GP doesn't consider its customers to have clients outside the USA. There are no formatted fields to accommodate these customer entries; phone, postal code etc. We sell globally, who doesn't these days.

Our Partner has no solutions.

(we also have SalesPad and Magento)

    Hi Torbett,

    If I am clear with your requirement, All the 6 places you mentioned for categories are the user-defined fields in GP and you need to customize your Dynamics GP to fit in all your 1800 categories into it. Coming to Magento, it has no limitations for categories. Once you customize your GP and let 'i95Dev' know which fields you want to sync, the connector can be customized accordingly.

    Hi Torbett.

    Do you really have 1800 categories, each with multiple values?

    Or do you have a total of 1800 category values?

    Each of the six item categories in built into GP can have multiple values.

    You can also look at Extender from eOne for adding extra fields, or you can create a customisation to store the data you need.

    If you need assistance with a customisation, that is one thing my company offers.

    thank you for response. We have 1800 categories and GP only has 6 places for categories, that's the problem. i95 has to have a place to 'connect' these for item profile updating.

    the Partner that recommended GP clearly didn't have a clue about our needs.  We have a boat anchor it appears.​

    Hello Torbett,

    As I said, few niche companies are experts in syncing the orders, products, inventory, customer groups and tier pricing from GP to Magento and vice versa. There is a connector available which suits your requirement for syncing information back-forth. You don't have to regret for using GP.

    Choosing right solution partner will definitely solve this issue. I am sure i95Dev will be the best solution provider for this. i95Dev also customizes it's connector which will help you to sync non stock orders from same vendor.

    Hi Torbett,

    This looks like a case for a knowledgeable GP consultant to jump in and asses your current status.. You may well have been misguided by your initial partner for the business case you wanted to setup, but it may not all be a lost cause.. GP is capable of handling manufacturing process, discreet and retail production, all the procurement and sales side of things, even drop-shipping, and the financial module is very robust too.

    You could also seek some help in the GP User group forums on the www.gpug.com .. you can register for a free trial period and the annual membership is reasonable, providing many benefits. 

    Hope you'll find a good 'new' partner that will better understand your business.

    We need a modified SOP/POP and a way to consolidate PO's that are for inventory min/max levels and orders that are non stock from the same vendor.

    We have spent over 50K with a partner for these solutions and got nothing but a boat anchor and they have just run off and left us stranded for solutions. MS wont even help us. I'm not convinced GP is the correct solution as recommended by a Partner, sounds like we should have got NAV.  Been on this project for a year and nothing to show for it. Shame on MS.

    :: Dynamics GP has very robust API interface which can interface with your eCommerce sites.  There are also 3rd party solutions which have pre-packaged solutions to interface with eCommerce Sites.  I have worked with Azox some time ago.

    ::eOneSolution' Entender allows you add as many classifications to any window in GP, in this case the item card.

    ::Dynamics GP does support multi currency operations.

    Hi Torbett

    Also, it is fairly easy to use the Modifier to change or remove the formatting for telephone, fax and post codes.

    In Australia we use phone formatting of (XXX) XXXX XXXX which allows for both domestic and international numbers, but you can also change it to be free form. You can extend the keyable length from 14 to 21 characters and set the format to 21 X's.
