Hi Kelly - do you mean assigning departments and categories to existing inventory in RMS?
RMS only supports Departments and categories without some modifications. You can alter the sub description 1,2,3 to say sub categories and set the options for sub descriptions(categories) so that once a sub category is entered its already populated in a drop down to select on the next item
