D365 Financials Content Pack Not available - Home Page

When I attempt to add existing Power reports to the Home Page, I cannot see any of the reports available from the Content Pack.  I have the Content Pack loaded in Power BI and am using the same account as Power BI. I see 2 reports that are unrelated to the Content Pack reports. How do I get the Content Pack reports be available in the D365 for Financials home page?

They are not even appearing in the list when I chose 'Select Report' - what am I missing?

I'm not aware of any known problems with setting this up that I can throw out for you.

    - The 2 reports that are showing up in Financials, do those show up in Power BI for you?  Are they showing up differently or in different areas?

    - On the Power BI site does the Financials content pack that you added work?

    - You're talking about the Power BI report section at the very bottom of the Financials home page, correct?  That is where you will be able to see and add Power BI reports.

Assuming you are using the exact same authentication email for both sites it should just work.  I'm not sure what else to have you look at without being able to work on this over a stream with you on a support case.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

I know it seemed really strange to me as well. I have worked with D365 for Sales and bringing in Power BI tiles with no issues. To answer your questions:

    • One of the two reports does show up for me in Power BI, but the other one is a really old one that I removed from Power BI in well over a year.
      • The one that does appear is an internal one we use for reporting.
      • Both of them are ones that I either created created or modified (and continue to make modifications to in the Power BI Desktop.

    • On the Power BI site, the Financials Content Pack works great on the site. I haven't done anything with them via the desktop client, but that shouldn't matter.
    • Yes, I am talking about the Power BI Report section at the very bottom of the Financials home page.

And yes, I am using the same login credentials for both Dynamics 365 for Financials and Power BI that is what seems so strange to me.

Have you tried a different browser or In-Private session?  Is it somehow caching the reports and not refreshing?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

So, I took your suggestion and attempted an in-private session and interestingly, when I do an in-browser session, the content pack for D365 for Financials doesn't appear at all. No dataset, reports, or dashboard.

    Lisa,

I'd like you to try something for me to help determine where to start.  Are you able to create a brand new Power BI report (using any data source you choose)and publish it to your Power BI.com Account?  Once you have that, is the report visible in the report selection page in Dynamics 365?  Thanks.

    Hi Brian,

I think I figured out the issue.  The short answer is I believe it was a security issue between Power BI and D365 for Financials and the O365 account I was using.  The default O365 group where the Data Set, Report, and Dashboard was getting published was not owned by me.  I setup a demo O365 environment, signed up for a D365 Financials trial and walked through the steps with no issues.  The Power BI reports are now appearing in D365 Financials and to further test it, I created a new report and published it and was able to see it as well in D365 Financials.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
