Stock Count Entry Error

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi, I'm trying to process our inventory and have had zero training. I have entered the count, but there is one item that is showing an incorrect number. We are counting this item out and I have marked them all as not found, however the "Serial Numbers Counted" shows a negative value of (58) and a "Serial number variance" of (58). I have the item counted quantity entered as zero, but the "item variance" shows (21), which is the actual number of serial numbers in inventory. why would this be showing (58) for serial numbers counted? Please help.

Thanks,

Eric

I tried reconciling and it gave me an error saying I can't complete this process while transactions are being edited.

I did enter serial numbers manually, but then removed then because I received this error. I put them back and it didn't change anything.

Is there a possibility that you have manually entered a serial number for this item. We find the same thing happens with Lot numbers after an override.

    Hi

It sounds as if perhaps there is some "corruption" in your records.

If you use stock enquiry on that item do you see all the serial numbers you would expect for the inventory quantities?

It may be worth running an inventory reconcile for that item, which should correct any errors. I can't imagine you are doing anything wrong as such.

    Tim.
