Is it possible to create a variable-length field in the CCD+ ACH format?

Hello,

We are trying to format the Addenda lines in the CCD+ ACH file format in EFT for Payables. One of the fields we need is 'Amount Paid' and the number of characters in this field will vary. However, we have a primary vendor that has requested leading spaces in this field be omitted/suppressed, but the file format does not appear to allow the creation of variable-length fields. Is that possible?
