System Message 8031: The object names in the simple control file are not sorted correctly.

When using the Transaction Import to upload our budgets, we keep getting the above error.  I have checked the control file against the csv I'm importing and they are the same.  We'd made sure that all the numbers are in text format and that we don't have any extras that the system might not recognize in the file.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Shelly,

We've seen some problems using a simple control macro in TI.  I want to say I've personally written up a bug in Budget Maintenance in regards to TI and simple control macros.  I would recommend first generating an intelligent control macro for the screen and use it.  See if the error message changes or goes away.

I am receiving the same message when trying to import a GL entry. Can you please clarify what you mean by "generating an intelligent control macro?" Thanks.

The intelligent macro is definitely the ticket.  My simple macro kicked back the same error when changing Inventory Item descriptions and when I switched to the intelligent macro, I had no errors at all.

Thanks for the help on this.

While working with the Simple Control file and the Sales Order entry screen in Order Management I received the same System Message 8031.  I had pared the control file down to just the few fields I wanted/needed to import.  As part of that paring I removed the cOrdNbr field which is a key field. Once i put that field back into the control file and adapted the import file to leave it blank (since it is serially assigned by the system), the error was resolved.

I'm having the same problem when importing for Journal Transactions.

My CSV files have the following columns (cjvno, cacct, csub , ctrandate, cdramt, ccramt, ctrandesc) and the numbers are in text format. I have tried both Intelligence and Simple CTL and same message received "The object names in the simple control file are not sorted correctly"

For the Intelligence CTL i did not change anything inside and use the same CSV. With the simple CTL I edited the file and have the same columns displayed with the CSV.

    Please help!

    Thanks,

    Luanne
