CRM Dynamic 4.0 Mapping from a parent to a Qualified child "Lead" entity

CRM Dynamic 4.0 Mapping from a parent "Account" entity to a Qualified child "Lead" entity

1. Is it possible to map a parent entity to a Qualified child "Lead" entity when in its current state is locked after the convert process is completed?

I have created a duplicate clone view for "Lead Entity" to match "Account Entity" and the mapping for all fields are completed for Lead to Account.

I have also created mapping from the Account to the Lead entity and when converting the Lead to an Account the information carries over. The issue is I am trying to make the data that is updated in the Account entity carrier back to the Lead entity so if the records in Leads are reactivated the data from the Account entity will update. Basically cloning all data inputted in either entity.

2. Would a workflow be needed to update the Qualified child "Lead" entity in this case??

Rob.. actually it depends on entity. There are few entity which cant be updated like contract, order etc while other entities like account, custom entity can be updated even in inactive state.

I believe even Lead should get updated in Inactive state but if not then you need to go through the the route i told before : activate->update->deactivate.

Also qualifying lead will create opportunity from UI but when you just call status update in workflow then opportunity will not get created.

When I say deactivate I should have said the records I want to update in the "Leads" entity are Qualified because they have been converted. Is this the same as deactivate in CRM 4.0? How do I get my workflow to make all records be reactivated for the update? I will not be re-converting them because I am building a (1) entity system All records will always only live in "Lead" entity as Open or Disqualified with a follow up date.

Yes, deactivated record cant be updated. You need to reactivate it and then update and then deactivate it.

"Workflows" Can a workflow be built to update all fields in an Entity like "Leads" where the records are locked?? because the records were converted and now are in a "Qualified" status. Show all the "Lead" be forced open before the workflow is ran?

Because I have customized our CRM and have removed entity relationships... Basically we have only two entities we are currently using. "Lead" and "Account" I have customized the CRM roles to allow only the two entities to be viewable. After doing this an now months later need to start working with Workflows once again I am not seeing any newly created Workflows being triggered at all. It shows no System Workflow jobs at all as the workflow is not being started. Thoughts on this?

Hi... You can register a plugin.

A plugin will trigger automatically whenever a update happens to the record.

I notice when trying to force the Workflow to run there isn't a Run Workflow in the entity for each record and it doesn't show the option to execute workflow in the actual workflow area. I check the Asynchronous Processing Service and it is running and also check the IIS and it's also running. Any idea what might be going on??

    Hi,

you can register the plugin on Update event of Account. The code should read the input parameter and update the lead with these value.

Also, you need to register the pluign on SetState and SetStateDynamicEntity of Lead entity. Check if the lead is reopened only then update the Account.

I have such a customized CRM 4.0 now that I was wondering how to force launch the plugin/workflow you are speaking about?

    Hi,

This can be achieved using a custom plugin/workflow on CRM 4.0 which will update lead whenever account is updated. Similarly it can be done for StateChange for Lead record so that the changes flow to Account entity.

This would have been possible using OOB workflow in newer CRM but since you are on CRM 4.0, I can think of only plugin or custom workflow as the only option.
