Upgrade from CRM 2011 to 2013

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

We are in the process of upgrading our CRM 2011 to 2013(eventually will be upgraded to 2016), with the incremental process from 2011 to 2013, I encountered legacy code issue, something like obsolete service end point. Not sure if we can resolve that issue, is there any other way for upgrade? For example, migrate data directly from 2011 to 2013 using some types of data integration tools, such as Scribe, or Kingswaysoft? What options do I have?

Thanks.

Bob

Yes Boby... its a RESTful service. Though it has restriction - you can read more here :

    Hi Boby,

CRM 2011 supported ASMX web service though it was deprecated. However, if you want to upgrade the solution which uses asmx service to 2013 then you have to change the endpoint to WCF.

ASMX service was mainly being called in javascript in CRM4.0/2011. This can now be re-coded to use the oData end point in CRM 2013. This is much easier approach however the code will be needed to change.

    The post describe similar approach:

    Thanks,

Since CRM 4.0 Service Endpoints & Features removed in CRM 2013 ,you need to handle it in your way.I would go with Scribe Insight. It will give you more flexible way to migrate data and record wise migration status.
