RMS 2.0 / Create custom report to print labels

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi folks,

We are running RMS 2.0 with all updates, FP and CU.

I wonder if it is possible to create a custom report to print labels.

We need to run a SQL query producing some items, we need to print labels for those items.

Possible?

Please advise.

Thanks,

...Alex

    Hi RMS Wizard,

Not sure what I did wrong last time, but I do see it now.

The main problem that I see with this "Print Label Wizard" is that it auto sort the items by lookup code.

The way we print labels, we print them as they are physically located on the shelves.

We use an inventory handheld to scan items we want to print labels for and load them to RMS as a Physical Inventory, use "Print Label Wizard" to list all items, but it sorts by lookup code instead of displaying them by the order they were entered into the database.

Is there any way around this?

It seems I must use "Print Label Wizard" to print labels, but I really need to keep the order of the items as they were scanned initially.

    Your assistance is highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    ...Alex

You must save the PO then select it and click Receive button to see the Labels option.

Don't you normally receive products by creating a PO and receiving it?

In this case you won't receive the PO, but you have to enter Receive mode to print labels.

    Hi RMS Wizard,

I don't see the "Labels" option, I do see Print though, how do I activate the ability to print labels from a PO?

I'm running Store Operations Manager v2.0.2002.

    Thanks,

Why not create a PO containing those items, click Receive, Labels, print the labels, then delete the PO?

    Hi Ramy,

Great! Didn't know about these reports.

I see I have to create a DEF and RPT files, creating the RPT files using Visual Studio will work?

Honestly, I really need a RPT listing all Items Lookup Code, so we can print them.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ramy,

I haven't developed any custom report using RMS internal Crystal report, do you have a sample of it?

I usually create memorized reports and edit the content of it as needed.

    Thanks for following up! :)

    Hi Ramy,

I need a custom RMS report, not external report.

Yes, I can print labels using the RMS label wizard, but I was wondering if it is possible to write an RMS custom report and produce labels from it.

Or, have the label wizard read items from a SQL query and print labels from the SQL query result instead of typing or selecting each item manually.

    Thanks for your reply.

custom report RMS Report or external report?

You can print labels from RMS label wizard and RMS label designer allow you to create your custom formats of labels you can print labels as report using columns and rows count in designer on A4 paper.
