Unsubscribe from Microsoft Dynamics emails?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all... I keep getting emails from socialengagement@microsoft.com but there's no unsubscribe option. How do I unsub?

The same issue happens with emails from Microsoft Dynamics CRM about downtime, server alerts, etc.

(Note to the Microsoft folk reading this: in Australia we have laws against this [The Spam Act 2003] which can lead to potential fines of $1.8 million. Might be good to fix before the regulators get wind of this...) Thanks!

You should be able to turn these off in your contact preferences under Office 365 settings.

Thanks Ian for your response. Yes, I am an admin for the Office365 tennant (and subscriptions to Dynamics, Social, InTune, etc) but I can't find any way in the settings to turn off these spam notifications? Anyone know how?

I could understand if they were important messages, but I don't need my inbox filled with marketing rubbish from Microsoft. (Refer image below for questionable claim: "this message is an important part of a program").

(Am pretty sure if I switched our licences to Salesforce they'd let me unsubscribe from spam - or even better, they probably wouldn't send spam it in the first place? [Hint to the Microsoft folk reading this!])

    Hi Darren,

I receive two types of email from this address, the one that you have received which I get as I am an administrator of Social Engagement and Post Alerts generated by Social Engagement, post alerts give a link to contact the creator if you wish to be removed. Certainly in the UK it is illegal to send unsolicited email without giving the recipient the means to unsubscribe but the emails I get from SE are not unsolicited as I have done something to trigger them being sent and they are for an administration purpose. From the email you have it looks like you need to change your account so that it is not an administrator for SE in the portal.

Hi Adrian - many thanks for your replies. Yes, I know how to use my Outlook to block emails, but that's not my query.

Anti-spam legislation requires senders of these types of emails to have a mechanism to remove yourself from the mailing list (usually done through an <unsubscribe> link).

Unfortunately, these emails from Microsoft Social Engagement don't contain such a link...  hence my question to this forum.

I know how to *block* the email... but I want to know how to *unsubscribe* from them.

Normally there should be an unsubscribe button around where your LinkedIn add-in is or near the bottom of the email. However, since this isn't the case I'll try and come up with an alternative solution.

If you right click on the email like I am in the picture you will be able to pull up a menu. In that menu you can select to block a sender from sending you any more emails and set Junk E-mail options. You will need to do this for every email address that is bothering you.

Another option would be to login to your Microsoft account(s) and change your email preferences.

    Yes, am using Outlook 2016.

Here's a screenshot of one of the emails... (I also get unwanted emails relating to scheduled maintenance, etc)...

    Hopefully this clarifies.

Can you share a screenshot of your email client. Are you using Outlook?
