Hi,
I’m trying to add a buttonto the command bar to fire a dialog using ribbon workbench (xrm toolbox). Is there a simple way to accomplish this?
thanks much!
If you are using Dynamics 365 Online, note that dialogs have been deprecated and are not accessible from the Unified Interface. There are a couple of prescribed ways to get dialog functionality using new features such as canvas apps and business process flows:
https://docs.microsoft.com/power-automate/replace-dialogs/?WT.mc_id=BA-MVP-5002572
If you are on-prem and still using the classic web interface, the following should give you the step by step instructions:
https://ribbonworkbench.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/140652-create-a-dialog-short-cut-ribbon-button
Here is a great article on using Canvas apps as dialogs;

Hope this helps!
Amazing – thank you very much. Extremely helpful. I appreciate it.
The third option is the one I used. I’ll be learning about canvas and flow as well. Thanks again!
